Our old pump went out and we needed a new one quick. The Hayward SP1580 has been great, works much better and quieter than our old pump and definitely worth every penny! I paid quite a bit extra to get overnight shipping, but even with the extra $$ for overnight shipping it was still less expensive than the best price I found online at any other website. So glad I found this on Amazon.com my kids are enjoying a nice clean pool for the summer!

|No on-off switch,
This pump has plenty of power attached to a sand filter for my 13,000 gallon above ground pool.Only problem is it has no on-off switch and you have to plug and unplug it to turn it on and off. The top comes off easily for cleaning the filter basket. Was simple to install to my filtering system. Durability – I run it nearly every other day for 3-4 hours and no problems so far- 4 months.

This pump is working like a champ. I highly recommend. Have owned above ground pools for over 20 years, so I have lots of experience. I ordered it on a Tuesday morning and received it on Thursday, with no special delivery order. Don’t even hesitate, you will not find a better deal than this.

I replaced our old extremely loud pump with the Power Flo. I didn’t realize quite how annoying my other one was. You actually have to ‘listen’ to make sure its running. I have to backwash a couple of times a week, compared with the once a week before. Its amazing how much power this pump has … and the quietness. I really can’t say enough about that. I have an 18′ pool with sand filter. All the piping ins and outs are for 1 1/2″ standard pipe fittings. Did I mention how quite this thing is?

I purchased this Hayward Power-Flo LX SP1580 Pump Series strainer housing removal
last year when my original Doughboy pump died. I have used it for one summer(I live in the north,approximately 4 months) and it works great. It has a greater flow at the same H.P. than the original pump. I backwashed 1/3 of the time as my previous pump, which saved me on water, chemicals and time. Take time and shop for this pump and you will not be dissapointed. If you hit a sight that says you can not use with a DE filter, I tend to disagree. I have a DE filter and it works great. The clear basket lid lets you see when the DE has recycled through and you can gradually add more. Probably if you dump a large amount of DE at once you may have a problem, but I would think that would be the case for any pump. De is a thick substance once wet and should always be added at a slow pace, which will take about 2 minutes to complete. I had to add hayward pool pump barings about 4 times this year, which equates to 4 backwashes. I know there are plenty of variables to reasons for backwashing, but the bottom line is, this hayward pool pump sp1580 pump produces great water circulation. And by the way, it’s very quiet if mounted solid, which is a plus if you have a layout like me and have a patio 20 feet from the pump.
